I know that spring is officially here, so this is a formal apology for the cozy, snowy shoots you’re seeing on the blog lately. I recently realized that there are SO MANY fun shoots from the fall and winter that I haven’t shared with you yet and I’m working really hard to get all caught up! I hope you’ll forgive me that I’m still talking about snow and winter light, even as you’re dreaming of putting your shovel in the basement and begging the snowstorms to just quit it already. Just know that exciting spring wedding and engagement shoots are coming soon!
This family was so warm and so kind. They asked genuine questions and took turns snuggling the baby and the dog in front of a cozy fireplace. I was thrilled when they even dashed (or hobbled on one broken leg) outside to brave the below freezing temperatures and take some beautiful outdoor shots, just as the sun began to set over the bay.
After the shoot, as I began to drive away, I was reveling in the warm, fuzzy feeling I always get after a really connected photo shoot. I caught a glimpse of that beautiful winter sunset and I had to pull over to watch. The pinking sky reflected off the water as the boats bobbed gently. A light breeze ruffled the reeds, as the golden light faded to a gentle blue.
I snapped a few photos (of course) and tried to breathe it in. Take a look and I think you might just start to agree with me. Even after months of cold… winter’s really not so bad after all.
