Hanging with Meghan and Jacob on this chilly, windy day at the Arnold Arboretum was just easy. The conversations, the laughs, the silly games we played to make these cheesy engagement shoot moments into something real – everything flowed naturally and comfortably as these two joked and teased each other.
Although it’s fully winter now, a couple of warm days melted all the snow away in Boston. So the ground was strewn with leaves as early sunset glowed through what green remained on the trees.
I’ve been trying some new prompts lately and this one led to my absolute favorite moment: I asked Meghan and Jacob to think silently about their love story and how they came to be together. Then I asked that they communicate their love, not with their words, but only with their hands. I backed away with my camera and let them have a quiet moment.
As Jacob’s hand moved gently across Meghan’s face, as her hand stroked the back of his neck, as their fingers intertwined gently, softly, with so much intention and caring, I felt their sweet connection ripple across the grass. And it was beautiful, easy, honest, deep.
I could tell you so many things I learned about them that day, but that quiet moment, I think, was the most important.
