In 2019, I had multiple shoots scheduled every weekend during September and October. I was excited for all of the amazing weddings I was capturing, but I was seriously unsure how I was going to accommodate the family sessions that tend to pop up in the fall each year. So I decided to try something that was new to me – Mini Photo Sessions!
A huge foundational value of my business – something that keeps it fun and compelling for me – is connection. I don’t just want to take your picture. I want to know you, care about you, befriend and adore you and your story and your family. So I was a tiny bit nervous… Would I be able to make a real connection with people in just 20 minutes of shooting time?
Luckily, thanks to years of practice with patients, couples, families, and wedding guests, things just clicked. From the small talk on the walk to the photo spot, to the mulled cider and cozy Christmas tree vibes, it felt easy to open those doors wide, settle in, and feel that love, even in a short time.
It was a slightly chilly November day at Holiday Tree Farm in Topsfield. But it stayed sunny enough that everyone could toss off their coats for a bit and frolic among in the rows and rows Christmas trees. It was fun to play with so many young kiddos and envision future holidays with a little one of my own. All in all, I loved the experience and got great feedback, so I definitely plan to host mini sessions again in the future!
