This super cool couple flew out from their home in the Bay Area to have an intimate family-only wedding at the groom’s family vacation home beside Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
The sweet little cabin was nestled in a patch of woods right beside the lake, which provided a beautiful, meaningful backdrop for their special day. Olivia and Philip were committed to keeping things unfussy. When I first arrived, Phil was in a graphic t-shirt and for a second I though “Gee, this is a casual one!” but he quickly suited up into a classy navy blue ensemble. Meanwhile, Olivia’s mom arranged the centerpieces while Olivia put on her dress.
The family gathered in a grove of trees behind the cabin for a heartfelt ceremony followed by champagne toasts on the patio. The couple brought along some marriage advice books from 1913 and took a few minutes after the ceremony to swap tips in their favorite spot – a bench on the screened in porch of the cabin.
Here’s one of my favorite pieces of advice from the books: “Don’t think that, because you have married for love, you can never know a moment’s unhappiness. Life is not a bed of roses, but love will help extract the thorns.”
And that’s what I wish for these two – not perfection, but the love and support to always make life easier and more full. Congratulations, O+P!
