Mini weddings continue to be pure magic. I can’t quite explain it, but they’re powerful and moving. They cut right to the heart of something.
On Sunday, Paulina and Jared were married in a tiny ceremony in the courtyard of Paulina’s parents’ home Jamaica Plain. There were only four chairs, one for each of their parents, and a computer stand for the Zoom guests. Paulina was Greek-goddess-gorgeous in a Pronovias gown and Jared was looking dapper in a blue-grey vest and patterned tie.
Paulina is a fellow wedding photographer, which was incredibly flattering (and just a touch intimidating). We started with portraits in nearby Franklin Park. She and Jared were a dream to photograph – they were so present, connected, and loving. They were unable to resist kissing each other whenever they looked into each other’s eye (and even a few extra times throughout the ceremony).
Paulina and Jared have supported each other through so much “life stuff” – major moves, career changes, world travels – so when their original wedding plans were cancelled, they seemed to just roll with it. They made a new plan, crossed their fingers for no rain, and created a beautiful day.
In addition to her photography skills, Paulina is an incredible baker. The morning of the wedding, she baked a special wedding day sourdough loaf as a way of centering and relaxing herself. She also made parmesan peppercorn sourdough discard crackers for the reception. (I absolutely love when people infuse their personal passions into their wedding day!)
After they exchanged rings and touching handwritten vows, the newlyweds and their families moved to the backyard for a champagne toast and a nosh on the patio. There was a perfect tiny cake and plenty of time to relax and celebrate their commitment and love.
I’m so excited for this sweet, beautiful pair and all the passion and adventures they will continue share in the years to come!
